First Time Home Buyers
The Home Buyers' Tax Credit, at current taxation rates, works out to a rebate of $750 for all first-time buyers. After you buy your first home, the credit must be claimed within the year of purchase and it is non-refundable. If you are purchasing a home with a spouse, partner or friend, the combined claim cannot exceed $750.

Land Transfer Tax
Land transfer tax (LTT) is often overlooked when considering the total cost of purchasing a home. All provinces have a land transfer tax, except Alberta and Saskatchewan, who instead levy a transfer fee. Homebuyers in Toronto also incur an additional municipal tax.
To help offset the cost, Ontario and the City of Toronto offer land transfer tax rebates for first-time homebuyers.
